Beth’s new album, Would You Like To Go: A Curt Boettcher Songbook, released a few weeks ago in Europe on the Basta label, garners this review from Platomania (translated from the Dutch):
In the distant past, Beth Sorrentino played in a number of forgotten
cult bands, but she has also released some solo albums. The latest is
called “Would You Like to Go,” subtitled “A Curt Boettcher Songbook.” Curt
Boettcher is a cult figure from the 1960s who worked with The Beach Boys
and The Byrds, and never got the recognition he deserved. Until now, that
is, because on Would You Like to Go Beth Sorrentino demonstrates very well
how huge Boettcher’s talent was. Beth Sorrentino isn’t lacking in talent
either. Not only does she play the piano beautifully, but she’s got an
expressive voice that’s capable of reviving forgotten pop songs. It turns
Would You Like to Go into an almost classic singer-songwriter album, such
as Carole King, Carly Simon and Laura Nyro once made. The touchingly
beautiful pop songs by Curt Boettcher (who died long ago) do the rest.

Would You Like To Hear Would You Like To Go?

Beth’s new album, Would You Like To Go—her first official solo album—was released today on Basta! It is available outside North America at Basta’s website. We are looking for a U.S. label to release it stateside and in Canada. The album presents an idiosyncratic tribute to sunshine-pop avatar Curt Boettcher. The album was produced by Beth’s old friend, Sean Slade. The album cover illustration is by Margaret Meyer.
